Teaching means I work with students to build life-long learning skills. I help students develop the ability to prioritize tasks, gather necessary materials, make a plan, and follow through. The reward for the student is seeing that he or she can produce excellent work. The reward for me is watching my students develop a strong sense of intrinsic motivation for their academic endeavors.
Each student has strengths that can be found, nurtured, and manifested. I help students strengthen the underlying processes that make learning joyful. Teaching is a human relationship based upon mutual respect. What do you want to learn? You can do it!
Vera loves to learn. She considers herself a lifelong learner. Reading and writing have always been passions of hers. She attends teacher conferences and workshops to stay current. She is especially interested in the latest research around dyslexia and other language based learning disabilities. After two years of study, Vera finished her Educational Therapy program through UC Riverside. Now she wants to learn conversational Italian and American Sign Language. She just learned how to paddle board and likes it very much.
